Was about to add a bunch of things then got distracted going through old posts on here. That led me to this performance by Tina Arena.
I like the first song, turns out it’s a cover and she never recorded it :(
Haven’t really bothered with the second. Chorus is a neat idea.
Was curious to see how his voice went live. He kind sounds like someone singing alone in their own house—kinda quiet, feels like it would break at full volume, but sometimes he really hits a note, and it’s intriguing rather than bad.
No idea who the artist is or what the song is, just know it’s got something to do with Bangladesh, but I clicked on this because I liked the small thumbnail. I’m a sucker for bright colours plus washed out photos kinda design.
Matey’s got a wild bow grip, takes money while singing, keyboard player casually browses his phone, drummer’s having a great time, excellent.
Okay, I figured out the artist’s name, not sure if the first part of the title/image is the song title. Other stuff in the thumbnail is the yellow and white text in the top right which says the place where they’re performing (Abode of Shukur Shah Baba (who is the old fella on the left)), middle text which is the artist and lyricist credit, and ২০২৪ which is 2024. So, yeah, assuming the top left text (Nabiganj Thana Farm Bazar) is the song title, but not sure. Nabiganj is a place…
Don’t remember this song at all from when I rushed through Bowie’s discography. Maybe I just heard the intro and skipped to the next one.
Real good version of a song I was never that fussed by on the album.
Here they are both singing it together in giant spotty dresses.
I watched The Top Bet today, then watched a little doco on Anita Mui. She became a pop star by singing a cover of 風的季節, which I liked a video of a little while a ago. I didn’t actually know she was a big pop star, never looked much into Cantopop.
Discogs rec’d Traslocando, but this is the only song I like off it.
Got some guy’s folder of ‘weird freaky disco singles’ off Soulseek and been going through it. None of it’s weird, mostly it’s just Italian. This is the first song I liked. Will listen to more of her stuff; has lots of records.
I like grandpa on the drums. One of the saxophoners didn’t get the memo about the yellow shirts. Kinda want a cowprint top.
I like the ‘love jack’ part.
I feel like I never listen to Momoe Yamaguchi much, even though I usually like songs when I hear them, just never feel like I’m in the mood for that era. This one’s great, much sassier than I was expecting.
I ended up getting the single of this. Sounds much flatter, less rowdy, but has a nice synth that comes in.
There was also a Nick Cave version of Cosmic Dancer playing when the documentary subject was close to passing away. Devastating, but such a great fit for a person who seemed to have such a full life of good and bad. It’s stuck with me all day.
Picked this live version with Warren Ellis to share. I used to listen to The Bad Seeds and Dirty Three a lot when I was in my 20s. It’s nice to connect with something by them both again.
Never gave T-Rex much time before, but what a lyric.
All the songs I’ve listened too have this same kinda good, kinda forgettable vibe.
Can’t remember what video was here before, but this one is also live and has a good outfit.
Oh, she tells the coconuts about her unrequited love, it’s not the coconuts with the unrequited love :(
I found this song in a video of impersonations from モノマネ王座, then did some Google Translating to find the original. What a great voice. Song comes in swinging.
